TBM Segment Gaskets are high-performance rubber seals installed between concrete segments to prevent water ingress and ensure the structural safety of underground tunnels.
（一）Primary Applications
- Metro and Subway Tunnels: Sealing concrete segments in urban rapid transit networks.
- Railway and Highway Tunnels: Ensuring water tightness in large-diameter underground transport links.
- Utility and Cable Tunnels: Protecting underground power grids, water pipelines, and communication cables from moisture.
- Underwater and Deep Drainage Tunnels: Providing high-pressure sealing for subsea, river-crossing, or deep sewage systems.
- (二）Key Functions
- Waterproofing & Leak Prevention : Blocks high-pressure groundwater from entering the tunnel, keeping the interior completely dry.
- Load Compression & Stress Distribution : Cushions the contact between concrete segments, distributing the immense geological pressure evenly to prevent the concrete from cracking or chipping.
- Long-term Durability & Age Resistance: Resists underground chemical corrosion, microbial attack, and aging to match the 100+ year design life of the tunnel.
- Displacement Accomodation : Maintains an effective seal even when tunnel segments experience minor shifting, settlement, or thermal expansion/contraction.
- Water-Swelling Capability ： Standard EPDM combined with hydrophilic rubber swells upon contact with water, creating a secondary defense line against stubborn leaks.
