Production Process of Sealing Strips
2025-06-20

The manufacturing process of sealing strips typically involves the following steps:
1. Material Preparation
Raw Material Selection: Common materials include EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), silicone, TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer), or rubber.
Mixing & Compounding: Additives (e.g., plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers) are blended with the base polymer to enhance properties like flexibility, UV resistance, and durability.
2. Extrusion
The mixed material is fed into an extruder, where it is heated and forced through a die to form the desired profile (shape).
Cooling is applied using water baths or air to solidify the extruded strip.
3. Vulcanization (for Rubber/EPDM Strips)
Rubber-based strips undergo vulcanization (heat treatment) to improve elasticity and strength.
Methods include hot air vulcanization (HAV) or microwave vulcanization (MVV).
4. Surface Treatment
Coating: Some strips receive a flocking, adhesive, or low-friction coating for better sealing performance.
Printing/Labeling: Identification marks or logos may be printed.
5. Cutting & Shaping
Extruded strips are cut to required lengths.
For corner joints or complex shapes, die-cutting or hot welding may be used.
6. Quality Inspection
Dimensional Check: Ensures thickness, width, and length meet specifications.
Performance Testing: Tests for compression set, weather resistance, and sealing efficiency.
7. Packaging & Storage
Strips are coiled, boxed, or palletized for shipment.
Proper storage conditions (cool, dry environment) prevent deformation or degradation.
Optional Processes
Foaming (for Sponge Seals): Chemical or physical foaming creates a lightweight, compressible structure.
Magnetic Insertion (for Door Seals): Magnetic strips are embedded during extrusion.
This process ensures sealing strips meet automotive, construction, and industrial requirements for durability and performance.
