Construction technology of rubber strips for bridge expansion joints

1. Cut off the old rubber strip
(1) Investigate the damage of the rubber strip on site and take pictures to record it to determine the scope of cutting. In order to reduce the interface of the rubber strip, the replacement sections should be minimized, and the sections to be cut should be marked with marks.
(2) To clean the surface, first use a wallpaper knife to cut off the rubber strip along the cutting section, then cut the rubber strip into two sections along the expansion and contraction direction and extract the old rubber strip. If it is difficult to extract, continue to cut it until all the residues in the slot are cleaned up.
2. Clean up the debris in the seam
(1) Use a steel drill to smash the internal debris into pieces and then use a clamp to clamp out the pieces;
(2) If the debris that is difficult to clip out can find the exit at the bottom, push the debris to the bottom and take it out from the lower part of the bridge
(3) Use high-pressure air or high-pressure water flow to thoroughly clean up the garbage in the seam, and remove and transport it to the site in time.
3. Install the rubber strip
(1) Evenly apply lubricating oil to the grooves on both sides of the steel beam;
(2) Lay the prepared rubber strip flat on the installation position;
(3) Use special tools to embed both sides of the rubber strip into the groove of the steel beam
4. Connection of old and new rubber strips
(1) The end of the old and new rubber strips are cut with a wall knife to cut the end face of the reverse 45° angle
(2) After cleaning the section to be bonded with gasoline, smooth it with a sander, and apply two layers of adhesive
(3), tightly bond the bonding section
(4) Grind the top surface of the rubber strip with a range of about 20cm at the bonded seam, and apply two layers of nitrobutylene adhesive.
(5) Pre-prepared rubber patch processing, apply two layers of adhesive
(6) Adhere the patch to the seam of the treated rubber strip, tap it lightly with a mallet to make it tight, and open the traffic after 10~15 minutes
